Ploughing (from 10 years old)

How to work the plough, watch the ploughshare tear up the ground, smell the freshly ploughed soil, feel the strength of the animal working together with you in ploughing the field.

Having obtained the basic knowledge from Donkeysland school, the children take part, in groups, in one of the most charming, but demanding agricultural works as performed in the past, whilst partnering one of our donkeys.

The children help to put on the animal’s equipment and to harness it to the traditional plough, trying out its strength in a unique experience of ploughing a field.

The programme takes place throughout the year.

Gathering Olives

A complete experience in the harvesting of the invaluable fruit of the olive tree, as it happened in olden times, with the help of the donkey.

The children take part in an adventure starting with the preparation of the donkeys at their table.

While they are informed about the characteristics, habits and needs of the animals, they also learn about their role in agriculture of the past.

Next, they proceed to the olive grove, help in laying out the ground cloths under the trees, the combing of the branches with rakes, and finally, the gathering of the olives into baskets which the donkeys will carry on their backs.

This programme takes place from October till end of November.
